Giovanni Ghizzani
Giovanni is a pianist and composer with a solid career in the contemporary jazz scene.
In 2018, he won the Audience Jury Prize at the prestigious Conad Jazz Contest, which led him to perform with his group Lost in the Supermarket at the Umbria Jazz Festival, presenting his original compositions.
That same summer, he took part in the Siena Jazz International Seminars, studying with internationally renowned musicians such as Stefano Battaglia, Kenny Werner, and Phil Markowitz.
In November of that year, he received the Massimo Mutti Award along with a scholarship to continue his studies at Siena Jazz.
In 2019, he was a finalist in several major competitions, including the Marsicovetere Jazz Competition (Italy) and the Sibiu Jazz Competition (Romania), standing out both as a composer and performer.
That same year, he graduated with honors from the G.B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna, specializing in jazz piano under the guidance of pianist Gregory Burk.
In 2020, he won Second Prize at the Chicco Bettinardi Competition (New Talents of Italian Jazz), and later that year, First Prize at Forum Live Jazz. He was also a finalist for the Emerging Authors Award (PAE).
In 2021, he participated as a pianist in the filming of the HBO series Successionand was admitted to the Barcelona Jazz Master program at ESMUC, which he completed in 2022. Since then, he has been based in Barcelona, where he pursues an active artistic career.
He has performed at festivals such as the Grec Festival and the Mostra de Jazz de Tortosa, as well as in renowned venues including Jamboree, Casino Barcelona, and Guzzo. His style is distinguished by its versatility and his commitment to contemporary creation.
In addition to his career as a performer, Giovanni regularly offers lecture-concerts on jazz in civic centers and cultural spaces, aiming to bring this music closer to all audiences.
